Australia- Part 7- Back on the Road

We had originally planned to ski three days, but after two days of good skiing and great weather, our legs were tired and we were anxious to get on the road to maximize time exploring Melbourne.

We had a great time on the drive to Jindabyne, but thought we might as well try to see some new territory so we took the front desk clerk's advice on driving along the Snowy River and eventually hitting the coast before turning west towards Melbourne. While the clerk did warn us that it was a narrow and windy road, what she failed to mention is that it is also a dirt road for hours upon hours!

Nothing but winding dirt road. Not a car or a human to be seen for miles.
We did however come across a mini-pony in the middle of the road. Who 100% refused to move or be moved. We're hoping this little guy found his way home or made friends with the local Kangaroos.

Checking out the view.

This drive was really amazing. As promised, it followed the Snowy River (think Man from the Snowy River) for hours and passed some unbelievably beautiful mountain and country side scenery. And we never saw another person.
We ran in to this guy.

There were not too many places to pull over and admire the scenery, but luckily we found the "No Name" camping sight and were able to get out, stretch our legs and check out the amazing scenery.

So the inherent problem with traveling as a couple is that its hard to get pictures of the both of us together! To try to improve our self-timed picture taking skills we bought this handy little flexible tri-pod and decided to try it out this trip. Here is our first attempt:

Yea, that rock was a little bit bigger than it looked and the Uggs were not providing ideal climbing traction.
This required a do-over.
Yep, lower on the rocks works out better.

The Man IN the Snowy River.

After Dave harnessed his inner 6-year old with a vigorous rock skipping session on the river, we were back on the road facing untold hours on the dirt road. Somewhere at the other end was the ocean, but we were nearly losing hope of seeing it.
