The National Baseball field....very fancy =)
And for the X-Men, starting at 3rd base, batting 3rd, wearing number 6-
Daaaavvvviiiddddd Curtisssssssssss
Taking in a little batting practice before the game.
#6 at bat.
Right before nailing a line drive down the left field line for a stand up double.
The first of two prettttty impressive pokes- his team now calls him MVP.
A good day at bat for #6.
Woot woot- 2nd base.
No small feat considering the muddy field must have been like running in quick sand.
As the party responsible for laundry in this house hold, I was just thankful he didn't slide =)
More after the jump...
The spectator area.
Both of us were very excited to be there.
All hail the champion.
The X-Men pretty much destroyed the Tornadoes.
Check out the serious uniform's on Team Korea.
MVP hanging out in the dug out, sporting a white tee shirt since he got taken out of the game after the 2nd inning due to the shellacking they were giving the opposing team.
Interesting stretching techniques of Team Japan.... =)
Dave's friend Bunty at bat.
X-Men.
A really nice group of guys. And darn good at baseball.
Good game, good game.
Game summary:
X-MEN : 10
OTHER GUYS: 2
Average temperature:
1000000 degrees and 100000% humidity. Ugh, it was really bad. It got so hot and steamy that I started to get a little concerned about the guys dying, and made an emergency run to 7-11 for some Gatoraid. It was much appreciated. I like to think I contributed to the W.
Field conditions:
Swampy. The pre-game warm-up was called off so that all players could put their efforts in to toweling off the field. Really, they used towels to soak up the water on the field and then wrung them out in buckets. It was comical, and it is questionable whether it did any good. There were some really really muddy dudes out there. I was very proud of Dave for not only playing a fantastic game but also getting minimally muddy. Thanks, babe.
Spectators in Attendance:
4.
5 if you include one of the X-Men's son's who sat in the dugout with the team.
Dave's Stats:
Two for two
Two doubles
Three RBI's
Two runs scored
And a new nickname- "MVP"
Next game is on Sunday against the Japan team. We will see if their very aggressive team stretching practices pay off in the field. Stay tuned for more pictures!
