A Golfers Delight

So I havent written much here, but the golf tournament, that I can add to. If there is one thing that Singapore's hot weather is good for, its a day out on the links. The problem...it rains too often, more on that in a minute.

So, there was very little hoopla in town for this tournament. I had heard about it, but figured it was some b-team asian tour event that would be wholly uninteresting. Turns out, they get some big time golfers in here. Don't get me wrong, its not the masters, but its also not the Nationwide tour. There were some names people have heard of, including Phil Mickelson!

So we set out to see some golf, and see some household names (and, of course, have a few beers along the way). I've only been to a few tournaments, but I had a strategy going in, and, with a few minor tweaks, it turned out to be a great day.

Now, there are two ways to watch a golf tournament, you can sit on one hole and watch everyone come through, or you can follow one group around the whole course to get a feel of the course. We arrive relatively late, so we wouldn't see the whole course, but my plan was to sit on the 18th green for a while and then try to go catch a few of the other holes as the leaders made their way in. It worked out swimmingly because we ended up sitting between the ninth and 18th greens, and watched everyone come in. Then Erin would put on her very best 14 year old girl impression and beg for goodies as the golfers went into the clubhouse. We ended up with a souvenir golfball from some Swedish guy I've never heard of, and signed hats from Mickelson.

We then set out to walk around the back nine as the leaders made their way through, and I patiently explained some golfing strategy to Erin.

Overall, a great day.
