Happy Birthday Singapore: Part II

So what do good expats do to celebrate the birthday of their current residence? Have a good old classic German/American/Singaporean BBQ with friends of course. All nationalistic events are best experienced with cold beer and flame grilled meat. Luckily our condo building comes complete with fancy bbq pits perfect for multi-cultural gatherings of friends.
The BBQ area through the trees (from the top of the playground of course)

Never too old for the slide.

Our very fancy set up.

Our friends and resident sailing instructors, Nora and Bjorn, reserved the BBQ area and organized the fun. We contributed our good American easy-light charcoal (which was quite the effort to find by the way), some sausages and some classic American chocolate chip cookies. There was German (authentic of course) potato salad, Chinese ribs, delicious mango vodka drinks and much more. I also made my personal favorite party food- guacamole and salsa!

Dave, very excited to finally get to use his fancy grilling kit- a wedding present from Marisa!

The remnants of the F-16 flyover. Not quick enough to get the real action.

Yummmmm. Sausages.

Par-tay.

Enjoying mango-vodka deliciousness.

One too many beers = Dave stuck in the slide.

Fireworks! (Sort of) But its soooo cool- they shoot them off the stop of all the big buildings down town!

It was almost eerie- not being able to see the fireworks- but hearing them and seeing the red glow from behind the buildings.

The ladies.

Putting the iPad to good use.

After many hours of good fun the night ended as many good nights in my life have ended- with angry security guards chasing us out.

Happy Birthday Singapore!
